We’re April, Erich, and our furry sidekick Oliver Horst—a spirited Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix who steals the show with his boundless charm. Welcome to our little corner of the internet, where we share stories from the road, travel tips, and updates on our quest to explore America’s wonders as full-time RVers.
Hailing from just outside Nashville, TN, and Houston, TX, we tied the knot on the sandy shores of Galveston Island in September 2019. After settling in the Clear Lake Area, outside of Houston, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a life-changing shift when Erich took a remote role with an Ohio-based company. In July 2021, we relocated to Delaware, OH, expecting a return to office life. But when Erich’s company went “Remote First,” we realized Ohio wasn’t our forever home. So, we sold our house, vehicles, and most of our belongings, trading roots for wheels to chase adventure across the country.
About Erich: A Cybersecurity and Information Security Leader with decades of experience in engineering and IT architecture, Erich keeps us connected and secure on the road.
About April: With a psychology degree focused on clinical mental health, April brings over 20 years of experience supporting special needs students, infusing our travels with compassion and curiosity.
About Oliver: Our half-Shih Tzu, half-Yorkie companion, Oliver, is the heart of our adventures, charming everyone with his quirky personality and endless energy.
Our Journey on the Open Road
Our full-time RV adventure began in July 2023, with our trusty truck Veronica and cozy fifth-wheel Lonesome Dove leading the way. As maritime lore reminds us, “It’s bad luck to set sail without naming your ship,” and every name has a story—we can’t wait to share ours around a crackling campfire with new friends and camping neighbors. From breathtaking landscapes to unexpected encounters, we’re documenting our search for the perfect place to call our forever home.
